GO OVERBOARD.

The expression 'go overboard' is used when someone or an organization does too much: exceeds the budget, exaggerates in comments or evaluations, provides more information than necessary, or takes any action that far exceeds expectations.
This expression originates from the nautical world, including nautical sports. Originally, it referred to a sailor falling overboard. Over time, it developed a figurative meaning, which is the one used today, especially in the business world.
Examples of use in a business context:
We need to be careful on this trip so as not to go overboard with our spending; we've already used all of the expenses for this quarter.
